Chief Master Sergeant Marc Schoellkopf

CMSgt Marc Schoellkopf is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He serves as the 59th Medical Wing Commander’s Senior Enlisted Leader, overseeing the Air Force’s largest medical wing consisting of over 8,000 personnel manning 6 groups across 4 installations. He is responsible for the health, welfare, morale, and professional development of the wing’s 3,500 enlisted members. In addition, Chief Schoellkopf champions the wing’s multi-pronged mission of providing worldwide contingency medical support, home station comprehensive healthcare services, clinical research, graduate medical education, and medical force technical training for 16 Air Force enlisted medical career fields – more than 12,000 trainees per year – to enhance worldwide mission readiness. In addition, he serves on the Medical Education and Training Campus Board of Directors, overseeing 48 training programs and 18,500 graduates annually. Chief Schoellkopf also serves as the San Antonio Military Health System’s (SAMHS) Senior Enlisted Leader, advising the SAMHS Director on healthcare delivery and support to 240,000 beneficiaries in 11 Army, Navy, and Air Force integrated medical treatment facilities, with a $1.1 billion budget, in the San Antonio metropolitan area.


Chief Schoellkopf entered military service in June 1992.  He has held a variety of positions at the squadron, group, wing, DRU, and DoD level in the Medical and various special duty career fields.  His assignments include bases in Alabama, Colorado, North Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington, DC, and overseas assignments in England.  Chief Schoellkopf has deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  Prior to serving in his current position, he served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, England.
