Colonel John C. Davis

Colonel John C. Davis is currently the Commander of the 959th Medical Group, Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The 959th is the third largest medical group in the Air Force Medical Service with 1,340 officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel located in Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). Col Davis also serves as BAMC’s Deputy Commander for Health and Readiness supporting a 483-bed facility that serves 242,000 beneficiaries and is the sole Level I Trauma Center in the Department of Defense. The group maintains the largest readiness platform in the Air Force Medical Service, providing vital medical capabilities to combatant commanders worldwide such as Critical Care Air Transport and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Transport teams. Simultaneously, the 959th Medical Group builds the next generation of medical professionals and leaders in the largest Graduate Medical Education program in the Department of Defense, responsible for educating and training 300 residents, fellows, and allied health professionals across 32 disciplines.

Colonel Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1998 from Baylor University. He was commissioned in the Air Force through ROTC in 1998 but delayed entry into active duty to attend dental school. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2002. He is a graduate of two Air Force general dentistry residencies and served as the sole dental provider for U.S. and coalition forces during deployments to Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan.
